To promote the capabilities of Sitecore and showcase DT's cutting-edge technological credentials, DT attended the Sitecore Trendspot conference as a major sponsor at the Hilton in Sydney. Our contribution was an interactive kiosk game titled "DT Data Smash" which invited players to participate in a digital table tennis competition using the Kinect V2 Sensor for Windows. The playing field was emerged within the "DT Thunderdome", equipped with an enclosing dome and lights to immerse the player in the colourful, arcade-style atmosphere the game possessed.
Every player who stepped up to the challenge was analysed during their gaming session. Their aim, agility, and power was recorded to calculate their individual table tennis personality based on their dominating trait. Players with more speed were a "Swift Foot". Players with careful aim were dubbed a "Hawk Eyed Baller". And those who smashed the balls across the table were rightfully labelled a "Grand Slammer". Utilising Sitecore, their personality was both defined and visualised on a spider graph which updated whilst they played. This sense of personalisation was the core premise of Sitecore's trend-spotting data capabilities, presented and wrapped up in an application that was both fun and memorable.
